Nikkei Matsuri, one of Canada’s largest authentic and family-friendly Japanese festivals celebrating arts, culture and heritage, returns to Burnaby this summer at full capacity for two days of festivities, after scaled back versions were held the last two years in response to the pandemic. The 10th annual festival will be on September 3 & 4, 2022 at Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre (Kingsway at Sperling in Burnaby).
Tickets will go on sale in August (follow Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre social media channels for announcements); all proceeds of the festival provide annual support to Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre for cultural and museum initiatives.
The 2022 festival is still in the planning stages, but is sure to feature festival favourites such as Japanese-inspired food trucks and eateries, cultural performances from local groups, martial arts, marketplace, games, as well as an expanded festival site. The planning committee is eager to make this year extra special as the festival celebrates its 10th anniversary. There is so much to look forward to – more details to come!
