MESSAGE FROM ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
We are excited to host the 14th Annual Nikkei Matsuri this year with a new expansion area west of our property.
To kick off the festival, Friday evening is the Matsuri-eve, Zenyasai Beer Garden featuring summertime vibes, DJs, and dancing under the sky.
Nikkei Matsuri takes place Saturday & Sunday 11am – 7pm and offers all the annual Matsuri favourites: food, entertainment, kid’s games, a Mikoshi parade, Bon-dance and more! The Beer & Sake Garden remains open all weekend.
The Nikkei Centre Auxiliary team is bringing back Dorayaki Ice-cream sandwiches with a new yuzu flavour. Look for it at the Nikkei Café in the Hayashi Hall.
New this year is the Fun Park expansion west of our building where you’ll find community booths, the kids crafts booth and our first ever community games for all age groups.
Come by the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre booth. Answer a few survey questions and then you can roll to win a prize.
Performances include Taiko drumming, Samurai and Ninja show and much more! Our special guest performers from Japan, Shuichiro & Daichi, will also perform their dynamic arrangements mixing traditional Japanese folk music and modern rock on their shamisens.
To support Nikkei Place, try your luck and purchase 50/50 Raffle tickets!
It’s the last weekend of the summer holiday, so come in your Yukata (Summer Kimono) and find onsite Yukata dressing, where you can bring your own or rent a yukata to join in the festivities.

日系祭り実行委員会よりご挨拶
日系ガーデンにやぐらが立ち、盆踊りやお神輿のかけ声、ゲームを楽しむ子供たちの笑い越え、屋台のにぎわい。今年も日系祭りの季節がやってきました。
館内ではステージパフォーマンス、武道デモンストレーション、アニメマーケットやポケモンリーグほか、物品販売、お宝マーケットもお楽しみください。
ロビーでは、日系センター支援のための５０・５０ラッフルチケットを販売しております。ご協力ありがとうございます。
今年は日系センターがあるサウスオークス・クレッセントのフードトラックプラザを超えた西側の公園に、新たに「ファン・パーク（Fun Park）」を拡張し、コミュニティー団体の紹介、クラフト、アクティビティーなどを用意しております。こちらは入場無料ですので、ぜひお立ち寄りください。
４年めを迎えた前夜祭は、金曜日にガーデンにて開催されます。DJとダンスで夏を満喫しませんか？
日本からのスペシャルゲストは三味線アーティストの『脩一郎＆大地』。日本文化を象徴する伝統楽器として受け継がれてきた三味線の魅力を、ライブでお届けします。
日系祭りは多くのボランティア、出演者、出店者、協賛団体・企業のご協力によって成り立っており、地域の皆さんとともにつくるものです。日本文化と地域の交流を通して、世代や文化を超えた素敵な出会いが生まれることを願っています。
レイバーデーの連休は、前夜祭（９月４日）、日系祭り（９月５・６日）でどうぞ心ゆくまでお楽しみください。
