Admission
Activities that take place in the Garden are free to all attendees. A $3 admission fee will be collected at the entrance of the building for attendees wishing to partake in all indoor activities — Game Zone, Matsuri Marketplace, special workshops and demonstrations, and main stage performances. Children under the age of 5 are free all weekend. Family of 4 is $10.
*Existing NNMCC members who present a valid membership card and any NEW members will gain complimentary access ($3 fee waived)! Visit the NIKKEI CENTRE TENT to become a member and/or get an entrance stamp!
Parking
Advance: Limited advance parking is available for reservation at Nikkei Centre’s underground parkade for a donation of $10 per day. To purchase an advance parking spot please contact Lisa at [email protected].
Event Day: Limited day parking will be available on first come first serve basis.
We encourage you to take advantage of public transportation and we will be offering a complimentary shuttle to and from the Edmonds Skytrain Station.
Free Shuttle Bus
Whistler Connection is operating a free shuttle service between Edmonds Skytrain Station and Nikkei Centre every 30 minutes from 11:00am to 7:00pm. Shuttle bus directions will be posted at Edmonds Skytrain Station and Nikkei Centre.
Skytrain & Walk
The nearest Skytrain station to Nikkei Centre is Edmonds Station (located at Edmonds and 19th Street in Burnaby), and is approximately a 15 minute walk from there. After arriving at Edmonds Station, leave the station and turn left on Griffiths. Go up the hill until you reach Kingsway. Turn left on Kingsway and walk until you reach Southoaks Crescent. Nikkei Centre is located at that corner (southeast corner of Kingsway and Southoaks Crescent).
Emergency
Please be advised that in the case of an emergency, health-related incident, or lost child, look for one of our volunteers or security/first aid professionals who will be on patrol throughout the event. In the case of a major emergency, listen for a public address announcement and follow the indicated instructions. Thank you and have a safe and fun matsuri.
Recycling Information
Nikkei Matsuri is green! All food will be served in compostable containers with compostable cutlery. There will be six waste stations located around the Centre to dispose of waste, with volunteers at each station for assistance.
Matsuri Money
Matsuri Money must be used in the GAME ZONE. Matsuri Money will be available in $1 denominations from the Matsuri Money Station inside the Game Zone (Ellipse Lobby). This money can be used to play all the games as well as purchase kids food such as cotton candy, hot dogs and shaved ice. All other vendors, workshops and food will accept payment directly in Canadian Dollars.
*Note: Matsuri Money cannot be converted back into Canadian Dollars and is only accepted in the GAME ZONE.
